We have 276 thousand tons of olive oil in stock, here's where

At the end of 2025, Italian silos will hold over 38% more olive oil than the previous year. Domestic extra virgin olive oil is on the rise, as are EU and non-EU olive oil. Here are all the numbers.

2025 closed with a total oil stock in Italy equal to 276.059 tons, 38,4% more compared to December 31, 2024 when the tons did not reach 200 thousand (199.498 to be exact).

This is revealed by the latest report (01/2026) of Oil mill Italy based on data contained in the electronic oil registers.extra virgin stands at 217 thousand tons, Of which over 155 thousand of Italian oil e almost 72 thousand foreigners, which means an increase of just under 50% compared to the previous year for each of the national, EU and non-EU origins. In growth averaging between 10 and 15% compared to a year ago, there are also more stocks of less valuable oils: between lampante, refined and pomace we are at around 50 thousand tons.

The oil industry has already filled its silos and in fact the Toscana it is confirmed with 42 thousand tons in second place behind the Apulia (105 thousand) for oil storage. Behind is positioned the Calabria with 33 thousand tons of which 10 thousand between amante and pomace oil, followed by Sicily (24.800 tons) e Umbria (21.500).

Il organically grown products amounts to 43 thousand tons, almost all declared Italian extra virgin, while among the certified productions obviously Land of Bari Dop confirms the first position with almost 12 million liters in stock, followed byIGP Sicilia with over 4 million, and at a distance theTuscan PGI and Val di Mazara PDO respectively a 2,8 and 2,5 million liters.
