The olive groves of Basilicata – he added – are the oldest in Italy and today, in the region, there are about 27 native varieties of olive trees. With about 150 crushers assets and an average annual production of oil equal to 2,5% of national production, the activity has a positive effect on the economy of the region and in particular on the gastronomic, environmental and landscape sectors”.
