Colossal scam on aAndria oil company, with the subtraction of a large amount cargo of bottled olive oil intended for Switzerland e never reached its destinationThe perpetrators of the scam – identified and arrested – managed to steal goods for an estimated value of almost half a million euros, carrying out identity theft against a completely unsuspecting transport company. Using false credentials and email communications, the criminals arranged for the product to be collected by providing fictitious information about the drivers and license plates of the vehicles used.
The investigations, coordinated by Prosecutor of Trani and conducted by Flying Squad of the Andria Police Headquarters, were triggered immediately after the complaint was filed by the owners of the Apulian company. Thanks to the cross-referencing of telematic flows, the analysis of counterfeit documents and the viewing of images from video surveillance systems, the investigators traced three men – two from Campania and a Romanian aged between 47 and 55 – who were arrested on charges of fraud, receiving stolen goods and possession of false documents.
In addition to the execution of precautionary measures, the police proceeded to seize the vehicles used for the transport and a sum of 426 thousand euros, considered to be the illicit profit obtained from the sale of the stolen goods.
