New intervention to combat fraud related to the extra virgin olive oil sector that just a few days ago had seen the police carry out another important operationThis time it happens in Campania where, the Provincial Command of Avellino of the Guardia di Finanza, committed to the protection of Made in Italy products in order to combat illegal activities affecting the agri-food supply chain, has seized 660 liters of extra virgin olive oil, of unknown origin and without the necessary commercial indications.
The service activity, conducted by the financial police as part of the economic control of the territory, involved a car, with two people on board, which, following inspection, was found to be transporting the product in question. At the time of the check, neither the driver nor the passenger were able to produce any documentation relating to the origin, production, packaging and destination of the oil, allegedly EVO.

Therefore, the soldiers, suspicious, proceeded to a careful inspection of the containers, finding that the cans containing the oil were generically labeled, with information referring exclusively to “Extra Virgin Olive Oil”, without reporting the information required by the stringent Community legislation in the sector regarding consumer protection, including the name or company name and address of the food business operator, as well as traceability and country of origin.
The goods found were subsequently subjected to administrative seizure.
