I flavors and knowledge of olive oil told directly by those who work in this sector. It is with this objective that ASSIST, the Italian association of the oil industry belonging to Confindustria, has joined “Companies open”, initiative linked to National Day of Made in Italy, on the day of Monday 15 April.

The anniversary, conceived and promoted by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, aims to highlight the excellence of national supply chains. In this framework, the Association intends enhance the historical, economic, nutritional and cultural role of extra virgin olive oil, involving above all schools and students who want to learn more about the production processes and professionalism of olive oil.

“For our sector, Made in Italy is not simply a geographical certificate – explains Anna Cane (in the photo), president of the Olive Oil Group – but a commitment based on different but complementary aspects: the selection of raw materials, high quality standards, blending, sustainability, the technologies used, attention to the consumer and the workers themselves".

Thus, from Veneto to Puglia, from Tuscany to Sardinia, seven major brands in the sector opened the gates to bring the world of oil closer to children: Carapelli Florence, Compagnia Alimentare Italiana, Costa d'Oro, F.lli Turri, Oleificio Secchi, Medsol-Olio Luglio, Salov-Filippo Berio. Curiosity, tastings and useful information helped the young visitors to understand the complexity of this food, essential not only for its economic contribution, but also for its health value.

Made in Italy is also competence and work culture. For this reason, during the visits to the company, the students had the opportunity to learn more about the many professional figures that revolve around a bottle of extra virgin olive oil: from the export manager to the food technologist, from the chemist to the agronomist, from the taster to the master blender, from the marketing expert to the production process manager.

“Quality is achieved by working at it every day – observes the president of the entrepreneurs – and we want to demonstrate this by accompanying tomorrow's consumers in industrial plants, on a journey in contact with the flavors and knowledge of oil”.
