Even Rome becomes part of the Cities of Oil

Rome has joined the City of Oil, an association with the aim of spreading the culture of the olive tree and quality olive oil and protecting and promoting the environment and the olive-growing landscape.

The same association announced it on the occasion of the first meeting of the Food Council held in the Campidoglio. municipal councilor for agriculture Sabrina Alfonsi. For the occasion, the national president Michele Sonnessa and the Lazio regional coordinator Alfredo D'Antimi presented the mayor of Rome Gualtieri and the councilor Alfonsi with the flag of membership of the Association and a bottle of IGP oil from Rome Palatinum.

“The entry of the city of Rome, the capital of Italy, into the Cities of Oil – commented Michele Sonnessa – is a historic fact that fills us with pride and gives prestige to our network which for almost 30 years, unites more than 400 Italian territories with an olive-growing vocation, promoting the culture of Evo oil through the training and organization of major events, the enhancement of the olive-growing landscape through the fight against the abandonment of agricultural land, oil tourism with the promotion of experiences related to the world of extra virgin olive oil, and social agriculture by encouraging the adoption of good, innovative and sustainable practices"
