A single label will identify the Calabria PGI oil

A unique label will identify all bottles of Calabria PGI oil, as a distinctive element capable of directing consumers towards quality and the protection of traditions. At the official presentation, held at the Regional Citadel, everyone agreed in considering the label unique a crucial turning point which will give producers greater competitiveness and strengthen their connection with the territory.

On the label, in addition to the Protected Geographical Indication mark, it is present the logo of Calabria PGI oil, Characterized by 'stylized image of an olive tree, whose trunk is made up of five sections that lead to the five provinces of the Region (Catanzaro, Cosenza, Crotone, Reggio Calabria and Vibo Valentia). A symbol that will make the product easily recognizable for consumers, simultaneously promoting the entire Calabrian territory and highlighting the centuries-old olive growing tradition of the Region.

The president of the Calabria PGI Oil Consortium, Massimino Magliocchi (in the picture), during the presentation he reiterated that he had started a small cultural revolution, adding: "It is a historic day, which allows us to face this year's olive campaign with a new mood and to present a unique label that will give greater visibility to an exceptional product such as our Calabrian olive oil, with the aim of being perceived by the consumer as a quality product of which they can be 100% sure. Furthermore, the PGI certification represents the guarantee of consuming a genuine, quality and Calabrian oil in every drop".

For his part, the councilor for agriculture of the Calabria Region, Gianluca Gallo, underlined the importance of valorising Calabrian excellence by stating that '"having a unique label means that we begin to brand our image and give recognition to our oil of quality to begin a path of recognition outside regional borders. The unique label of the Calabria PGI Oil Consortium will be an indication of a trend increasingly based on the absolute search for quality, the only ambition to be cultivated in addition to that of olives'”.

In underlining how the objective is to reward the dedication and sacrifice of farmers in offering quality products, the Consortium reiterated its commitment to making known not only nationally, but also internationally, a unique and badge that tells a story, has an origin and follows a tradition and obtaining the unique label represents an important step towards achieving these objectives.
