From today, and until the end of the month, olive growers will be able to apply to Agea, the agency for disbursements in agriculture, to access the 30 million euros allocated from the supply chain fund of the Ministry of Agricultural Policies financed with the Law of Budget 2021. The goal is to increase the competitiveness of the Italian olive oil sector. The funds will finance both investments in new plants and the modernization of existing ones.

10 million euros are earmarked for investments in new plants with the obligation of irrigation, adoption of precision agriculture systems with field sensors and use of Italian cultivars.

On the other hand, 40 million euros are earmarked for the modernization of olive groves aged 20 years or more for thickening, replanting and varietal reconversion, extraordinary pruning and the creation of drip irrigation systems.

The beneficiaries of the support will be olive growers associated with recognized producer organizations up to a maximum of 70% of the eligible expenses and in the 'de minimis' regime up to a total of 25 thousand euros.
