On the eve of the presentation of Operational Programs 2024, UNAPOL and the participating POs express in a note strong concern for the distribution of funds which, in light of the 2023/2024 campaign, "will see the penalization of POs dedicated to small-scale production, a bastion of Italian olive biodiversity".

Aid to the olive sector follows national provisions based on the operational programs of the POs (Producer Organisations) and AOPs (Associations of Producer Organisations). The funds will be recognized in relation to the capacity to concentrate the offer and commercial intermediation expressed by the associative bodies. “The parameter through which the funds will be distributed therefore respects the criterion of the value of marketed production; clearly – Unapol comments – to the detriment of all those realities that probably need greater protection, having smaller commercial volumes".

For this UNAPOL, "always alongside all POs regardless of their size, location and union membership, invites national and regional institutions to reflect deeply on the methodology applied for the remodulation of the sums and on the recognition parameters that inspire an adequate sector strategy for the protection of all active operators, according to the principles of Reg. 1308/2013".
