Training of oil mill workers: Pieralisi's activity in Spain

Pieralisi Spain collaborated once again with the PDO Montes de Toledo for the second edition of the training course 'Oil Mill Technician', an integrated initiative dedicated to oil mill staff and those who have obtained a degree in studies relating to the oil mill and agri-food sector.

At this edition, held in Mora (Toledo) A total of 23 participated. They were provided with the tools and resources necessary to enhance and acquire new theoretical and practical knowledge in the extraction of quality olive oils. In total, the course included 32 hours of theoretical training in the classroom and 16 hours of practical sessions in the Rurale Eurocaja laboratory and in the collaborating mills of the PDO Monti di Toledo. During the practical sessions, participants made visits to various cooperatives in the area, where they were able to meet in depth and update their knowledge on how the work of mill staff works.

The theoretical lesson

The training held by Pieralisi was conducted by Antonio Carazo, Product Marketing Director. During the session, Carazo shared with the participants the operating methods of the Pieralisi machinery which allow excellence in the production of extra virgin olive oil to be achieved. The practical part was instead directed by Paul Munoz, supervisor of the Pieralisi After-Sales Service, who illustrated to the students the critical aspects related to the maintenance and methods of use of the Pieralisi machines.

The training activity developed by PDO Montes de Toledo together with FEurocaja Rural wave was launched in 2023 with the aim of professionalizing the work of oil mill staff and fits perfectly with the values and the involvement of Pieralisi with the sector. In fact, this project also aims to analyze all the processes involved in the production of extra virgin olive oil, identify the critical points in which performance losses may occur, address the process control methods aimed at improving the quality of the oils and obtaining of maximum yields, bring students closer to the concept of sensorial quality of oils, learn about the relevant legislation, in short, increase and improve the knowledge of master millers in the use of new techniques and process optimization.
