The assembly of members of FIOI – Federazione Italiana Olivicoltori Indipendenti (Italian Federation of Independent Olive Growers) took place in recent days, electing the new executive body that will lead the organization for the next three years. President is Filippo Legnaioli, 57 years old, olive grower, owner of the l'Erta Agricultural Company in Quintole and president of the Frantoio del Grevepesa cooperative (Fi).
Together with Legnaioli they will be 14 councilors newly elected: Laura Zonin, Cristina Orlandi, Francesca Tumino, Marina Fornabaio, Antonella Pompili, Nicola Di Genova, Micol Carraro, Francesco Pepe, Giuseppe Ciccolella, Giorgio Gentilcore, Enzo Signorelli, Tommaso Masciantonio, Filippo Alampi, Vito GironeSeven regions represented: Tuscany, Emilia Romagna, Veneto, Sicily, Lazio, Puglia, Campania and a strengthened presence of female olive growers who will contribute to the necessary growth process that Italian olive growing needs so much.
Among the main purposes of the Federation are those of represent the professional figure of the Italian olive grower, promote collective interestsi of the category, stimulate research and the cultivation of new native Italian cultivars for the protection of biodiversity, the safeguard of product quality, promoting and enhancing virtuous cultivation, harvesting, processing and marketing techniques.

“I feel very honored to have been elected by the members to hold such a prestigious and responsible role” stressed the President Legnaioli. “He's waiting for us - he added - a great job to do in the next three years to make our federation grow: to expand its social base and its articulation at territorial level, to make it progressively more and more a strong and useful reality at the service of us olive growers, to make FIOI a solid organization capable of presenting itself with authority and competence as a political representative body at institutional tables.
There are many new figures who have found space in the newly formed board of directors and a large female representation. Fresh energy, new sensibilities that I am convinced will strengthen our organization. I would like to thank the new directors for their availability and desire to get involved: their energy will be new and indispensable lymph to make FIOI grow. I would like to extend a sincere and dutiful thanks to the friends who accompanied me on the past board and who I consider the architects of this magnificent project with a great future ahead”.
