Next Thursday, starting at 12.30, the conference will be held in the great hall of the ITA Giuseppe Garibaldi in Rome “The Olive Supply Chain United for Sustainability, a conscious choice”, a meeting called and organized by Unapol – National Union of Italian Olive Producers Associations e Confagricoltura. They will be present Massimiliano Giansanti President of Confagricoltura, Thomas Loiodice president of UNAPOL, Anna Cane president of the Oliva Assitol Group, Alberto Albieri president of Rise Against Hunger Italia. The school director moderates the meeting Andrea Pontranelli. To embellish the conference, the institutional interventions of the undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty Patrick Giacomo La Pietra and the agriculture councilor of the Lazio Region Giancarlo Righini.

From 9.00 to 12.00, the students of'ITA Giuseppe Garibaldi will have the opportunity to participate in the Unapol Masterclass “Learning quality EVO oil”, a series of lessons with the aim of transmitting knowledge and knowledge of this precious elixir. The first part includes an introductory session to tasting extra virgin olive oil under the supervision of the prof. Alfredo Marasciulo, by Dr Maria Paola Consolini and Dr. Ivan Rizzitelli, to then move on to the Frantoio Techniques laboratory, held by Dr. Gabriele Baronti, which will allow us to improve the milling processes and process excellent raw materials in the best possible way. This will be followed by a meeting entitled EU Programming, held by Dr. Pierpaolo Iannone, in which the topic of community funds will be explored in depth, to answer the questions of future entrepreneurs and professionals in the Italian olive oil sector which is currently going through an important phase of transition and growth.

Unapol intends to start with young people to spread the culture of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and transmit the underlying values in a unique product in the world. As he states Unapol president Tommaso Loiodice, “A bottle of oil contains a natural, historical, social, food and economic heritage that establishes us as international excellence. We therefore want to start with young people to spread these values, and we do it with the professionals of tomorrow, enriching their specialization and knowledge so that in the future they can themselves become ambassadors of the precious Italian green gold".
The conference that will follow the Unapol Masterclass will open with a debate that aims to address the challenges and opportunities linked to the creation of an extra virgin olive oil supply chain based on sustainability. We will talk about sustainable supply chains, responsible agricultural practices, protection of the territory and natural resources in the presence of the highest authorities in the Italian agricultural and olive growing sector.
The day will be enriched by the presence of dRise Against Hunger Italy, a non-profit organization with which Unapol actively collaborates in charitable initiatives, which will involve students in a food parcel packaging event to be allocated to schools in Sub-Saharan Africa. A moment of solidarity that will aim to raise awareness among young people and make them reflect on the importance of solidarity and international collaboration in promoting a fairer and more sustainable future for all.
