Next Monday, starting from 9.00 am, the event will be held in Massa Lubrense, at the “Terre di Villa Angelina” agricultural company “New technologies for the redemption of heroic olive growing”. This is a meeting to present new machines for the safe harvesting of olives, suitable for working on the hills and capable of preserving the quality of the drupes in the removal phase from the plants, which represents the first step towards obtaining a final product of excellence and intended to be branded as Campania Igp oil.
The event, promoted by Bye Campania with Italy Olive growing and Louis Milan, promoter of the olive oil prize Golden Siren of Sorrento and expert in olive growing and oils, has the dual objective of presenting the new technological solutions to a group of young pickers who will have to use them safely, under the guidance of more expert hands and to relaunch the recovery of the abandoned hilly olive groves of the Sorrento peninsula. The senior collectors - volunteer trainers of the young recruits - will also be present at the meeting. While engineers who are experts in workplace safety will illustrate the key aspects for the safe use of the new machines in conjunction with personal protective equipment.
A further element that will be presented during "New technologies for the redemption of heroic olive growing": with the olive harvesting operations, which will begin on September 20th, will be sent for transformation into Campania IGP oil drupes of trees present in funds registered in the registers of PDO Sorrento Peninsulaa, which enjoy double registration, both in the registers of the Campania PGI and in those of the Sorrento Peninsula PDO, an option made possible thanks to requests to the competent bodies by Luigi Milano and aimed at enhancing the possibilities of valorising the agricultural raw material.
