The rankings have been made public and the winning oils of the 13th National Award have been revealed “THE GOLD OF ITALY” and the 11th International Prize “THE GOLD OF THE MEDITERRANEAN”, Edited by OLEA, offering an overview of the national and international olive production sector and a beautiful showcase of the best oils of Italy and the Mediterranean.
They come from Puglia, Campania and Marche, followed by Sicily, Molise, Calabria, Sardinia and Umbria the oils which, in their respective sections, types and categories, have earned the first places in the national competition, many of which will be able to boast the coveted recognition of “THE GOLD DROPS” of OLEA, respectively 5, 4 or 3 which, such as "Praise of Excellence", "Mention of Merit" and "Mention of Quality", want to highlight the bands of merit and the recognized quality level. Italy, Croatia and Spain featured in the international award.
For OLEA, chaired by Renzo Ceccacci, it is a source of great joy and satisfaction to share these successes, strengthened by the recognitions and prestige that the Association has been able to gain in Italy and in numerous foreign countries, in over 30 years of effective activity, to the point of being considered as a point of reference for the sector and consumers.
“It is a source of pride for OLEA – reads a note – to have believed since then, first on the national and international scene, in the importance of competitions as a fundamental vehicle for comparison, promotion and growth of the sector. All thanks to the commitment of the Tasting School, its qualified Panel, its experts and teachers and its staff, in spreading the culture of the olive tree and oil, stimulating the improvement of quality.
After having made public on its website, even before the established date, all the rankings of the Competitions, the official awards I am scheduled to Fano (PU) Saturday 21st May. After the ceremony, OLEA will send copies of the prestigious and well-deserved Awards to all the producers.
They've been about 600 oils entered in the competitions, sent from over 350 between mills and farms, Italian and foreign, evaluated with scruple and professionalism, in the various phases, by the commendable work carried out by the Judging Commission, directed and coordinated by the Chief Panelist Giorgio Sorcinelli and composed of 24 professional tasters all members of recognized panels, in 6 days of work .
