The consumer is ready for a correct use of health claims and the entire olive supply chain is called to implement all useful strategies for a better positioning on the market.

This is what emerged from the meeting organised by the AFP - Association of millers of Puglia, which saw among the speakers the Prof. Maria Lisa Clodoveo which represented the results of a research conducted at national level.

Today the consumer chooses an oil on the shelves in 13 seconds, in this short period of time you must be able to communicate a few simple pieces of information: oils are not all the same, extra virgin olive oil is the only one produced only by mechanical means, extra virgin olive oils under quality regimes are a guarantee for the consumer in terms of healthiness and transparency.

The research highlighted how 70% of consumers are able to associate health claims with a beneficial effect on health even without full knowledge of the concepts underlying the claim.

For this reason, the Frantoiani di Puglia Association has reiterated to its members a path to take, supporting them in conducting the preparatory analyses for a responsible and conscious use of the claims to be included on the labels.
