With the aim of contributing to restructuring of the olive oil sector (as well as that of the citrus fruit sector and the dairy sector of the sheep and goat milk sector), was approved an amendment to the Agriculture Decree, currently being converted in the Senate, which makes it available to them 5 million euros per sector, for a total of 15 million. The intervention involves contributions to be allocated to the total or partial coverage of the costs incurred for the interest due for the year 2023 on medium-long term bank loans contracted by the relevant POs, producer organizations. The delivery methods will be provided for by a decree of the Ministry of Agriculture. The contributions will be provided by Ismea, the Institute of Services for the Agricultural and Food Market, the body managing the measure.
“Through the Producers' Organizations we try to provide the olive oil, citrus and sheep and goat sectors with financial support on bank interest so as to put companies in the best possible conditions for a production relaunch” said the sen. Maria Nocco, first signatory of the amendment.

She also spoke on the subject Unaprol who, in underlining how strongly he wanted this decree, through the mouth of the president Davide Granieri added: “This is an important support measure for our companies, which are currently facing a period of particular difficulty due to the increase in production costs and market uncertainty. These contributions will help POs and AOPs to reduce their debt and improve their liquidity, thus promoting the recovery of the sector. Unaprol – Granieri reiterated – will continue to carefully monitor the evolution of the situation and urge the institutions to implement further support measures for the olive sector. Olive oil is a strategic product for Italian agriculture and for the economy of our country, and we must do everything possible to protect and support it".
