Riviera in Fiera brings together in Cervia until tomorrow (Wednesday 14th) the best excellences of the Romagna Riviera in a hub dedicated to hospitality and catering operators. Unapol – National Union of Olive Producers Associations is present at the Magazzini del Sale to talk about the work of the companies, the associated POs and the farmers of the Italian olive growing world.

Unapol house it will be a meeting place for wholesalers, suppliers and producers interested in learning more about various aspects concerning olive growing and among which there is a hot topic that has been discussed for days: the farmers' revolt which has involved the whole of Europe. “We at Unapol have always reiterated this – he comments the president Tommaso Loiodice (in the picture) – farmers are the custodians of our wonderful biodiversity, their role is fundamental in more than one sector, first and foremost that of quality catering. In recent years, agricultural production cannot even cover the same costs. The product arrives on our tables at modest prices, but does not remunerate those who produce it fairly. An injustice that could also have consequences and repercussions on production, and consequently, on the supply of quality raw materials. This is why a new agricultural plan is a necessity on which we can no longer procrastinate."

Riviera in Fiera is a showcase of Made in Italy, where exhibitors from the Bel Paese present their products which contribute to making Italian catering and hospitality inimitable. And Italian pride, as Loiodice explains, is also represented by the products that our agriculture offers: "Among the reasons for the protest there is a strong concern for the opening of the internal market to Ukrainian products for possible low-cost imports . This will lead to an inevitable exoticization of raw materials, generating inflation that will affect our products. All of this will result in a serious blow to our Made in Italy."

Loiodice's hope is that "national and supranational institutions listen to the voice of our farmers and respond with satisfactory solutions because, as well represented also in this event, it is also thanks to their sacrifices if we can boast of a record: a catering envied by the whole world."
