The presence of the capsule on the neck of the bottle it is a recurring element in the tradition of certain products. And even in the world of oil it is increasingly finding attention from mills and companies that intend to offer themselves with extra virgin olive oils where beauty is added to the good.
Is it just an aesthetic choice or also a technical one? He accompanies us in this study Quinti, a leading company in bottling processes.
“The aesthetic impact – we are told – is certainly pleasant. The bottle is cared for and well finished, and it also has a positive impact from the point of view of safety: in this way, in fact, the cap will hardly have been tampered with.
But what is the capsule really for?
“In part, the answer is rather intuitive: in fact, the presence of the capsule guarantees the integrity of the package. Which does not necessarily mean that the product has remained perfect, since this depends on the combination of many other factors, but which we do not want to analyze here. Always thinking of a practical approach, the capsule promotes protection from some external agents, such as dust and dirt in general, being an external coating on the cap. Today it finds application in bottles of many products and the aesthetic impact is certainly positive, it gives elegance and character to the bottle, dressing it and making greater customization possible. After all, a glass bottle is like a white shirt: by itself it is elegant with its clean lines, but if "enriched" with a few small accessories it can become something special and unique. The use of one color rather than another in the choice of the capsule can, if used well, be a very valid element of communication. For example, let's think of a dark color, red, purple, black, to express elegance, rigor, seriousness, or a brighter color like blue or fuchsia, for a sparkling and fun effect”.
How do you put the capsule?
“Generally the capsules can be in heat-shrink or polylaminate: in the first case the application takes place via a thermal encapsulating machine, in the second instead via a mechanical one. In Fifth the capping technology is present in many of our machines and adaptable to almost all liquids”.
