Despite the less than "lucky" olive growing year, AMAP – Agency for Innovation in the Agri-Food and Fisheries Sector (formerly ASSAM) kicked off the 21st centuryedition of the National Review of monovarietal oils, to offer visibility to producers who have managed to obtain a good result and continue the path of studying the potential of Italian olive biodiversity.

The Exhibition is not in fact a Competition: the objective is not to evaluate the best oil, but to make a contribution to the characterization of monovarietal oils obtained from numerous native varieties, to enhance biodiversity and national productions.

All the data collected annually are statistically analyzed byIBIMET CNR of Bologna, with which the Agency has been collaborating for years, to define the sensory typologies and organoleptic and analytical profiles reference for Italian varieties. The database of monovarietal oils, which currently contains 4.087 samples, from 195 varieties, coming from 19 Italian regions, provides valuable information on the nutritional, health and sensorial properties of monovarietal oils; updated every year, it can be consulted on the website www.olimonovarietali.it.

The samples arriving at the Exhibition will be tasted by AMAP-Marche regional panel, recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture since 2004, while the chemical analyzes will be carried out by Regional Agrochemical Center of the Agency, accredited by ACCREDIA and registered in the national list of laboratories authorized to issue official analysis certificates in the olive sector, recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture.

There are Special recognitions for:
- Newly presented variety (to producers who present varieties never received in previous years at the Exhibition, described in publications and catalogued).
- Excellence awards within the monovarietal typologies most represented at the 21st Edition (number of samples participating in the Exhibition exceeding 10).
- Certificates of excellence to all oils that achieve a score ≥ 8 in the Panel test.

Samples can be sent to the Regional Agrochemical Center in one of the following periods:
13 from November to December 15 2023
15 from January to 26 2024

Participation fee:
– 90 euro Review package (sensory profile, fatty acid composition and total polyphenol content);
– 120 euros quality package (in addition to the previous ones, acidity, peroxides, spectrophotometric constants and panel tests).

It is foreseen, without additional costs, the Shelf life assessment (state of conservation almost a year after production) on the oils admitted to the Exhibition and stored in an air-conditioned cell at the Agency premises, by the AMAP-Marche Panel.
The samples received will also be used, anonymously, for technical-scientific purposes in the context of specific projects in collaboration with research institutes and universities, for further characterization and valorisation of the rich national biodiversity heritage, and for information and training events. .

Participation methods and membership forms (by company and by sample) can be downloaded from the website www.amap.marche.it and www.olimonovarietali.it

Place, dates of the event and methods of dissemination of the results will be communicated later.
