It started at Vieste "Oil Week", which until 1st September will offer a world of appointments to discover the green gold.
«This 7th edition is enriched with important appointments and is in line with the objectives we set ourselves seven years ago: to grow the territory and the quality of extra virgin olive oil», said the councilor for agriculture of the Municipality of Vieste Dario Carlino.
«The event aims to promote the culture of extra virgin olive oil both through dissemination activities aimed at the general public, and through discussion and training activities aimed at operators in the sector, so that they can expand their knowledge in the field oil mill and networking with other production realities», he underlined the organizational director of the event Sabrina Pupillo.
There are many prestigious guests present in Vieste these days and coming from all over Italy: oil tasters, producers, chefs, pizza makers, bakers, sommeliers, journalists and bloggers ready to guide the participants on a fascinating and enthralling journey into the world of green gold, to discover knowledge, tastes, curiosities, stories of excellence and innovation.
To kick off the event, on Monday 28 August at Tenuta Padre Pio, were the Davide Fiorentini pizza chef and baker – creator of “O Fiore Mio Hub” in Faenza, a beautiful study and research center on the art of leavening, from bread to pizza passing through croissanterie and large leavened products – and Anthony Wax, creator of Grani Futuri, the cultural, economic and social movement born in 2016 which aims to enhance the land and bread. At the center of the encounter is the pairing between “Bread & Oil” with a focus on knowing how to combine and recognize good bread and good oil.
«These two foods must absolutely and inextricably travel together, they are the emblem not only of our territory but of Italy itself» declared Antonio Cera, underlining the importance of enhancing the raw materials.
Present on the first day of "Oil Week" also Vincent Franco, director of Pitti Immagine which includes “Taste”, the gastronomic event that has been taking place at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence for years. «Out of 72 oil producers present at the “Taste”, 19 are from Puglia» Franco said, adding that food is the best our country can express, with a great propensity for product and quality.
Until 1 September, every evening starting at 20.30, at the producers' market in Marina Piccola it will be possible to taste the extra virgin olive oils of 16 Gargano companies to get to know the world of oil up close and savor its unmistakable taste.
