Here are the countries where the consumption of extra virgin olive oil is growing

World consumption of extra virgin olive oil is growing and with curious surprises. Second AllFood, the Milanese agri-food fair that processed the data of Export Pallaning, global demand reached 2021 billion euros in 6,3, 5,3% more than in 2018. In addition to the historical markets (Italy in the lead together with Spain and the United States), the data show a progressive increase in demand from other countries. And they are not those linked to traditional markets. For example in the Mediterranean area it is Turkey to record a record increase in its demand, passing from 7 million euros in 2018 to 70 million in 2021. They follow the Portugal (+44,5 million euros), the Germany (+44,1 million euros) and the France (+16,5 million euros).
Even in the area Asia-Pacific the consumption of olive oil is growing and even here there are surprises. It is the case of South Korea, where signings have increased by a whopping 16 million euros in four years, though Japan e China remain the main destination countries of the product, registering over 100 million euro of imports in 2021. Overseas, the major importers are the United States: in 2021 the US exceeded 900 million euros, retaining second place in the ranking of the main importers on a global scale. The Brazilian market has over 300 million euros of imports in 2021, while Mexico (+6,5 million euros), Colombia (+4,5 million euros) and Canada (+2,2 million euros) it is the other countries that show significant growth margins.
