World oil consumption is growing faster than production

In the last three years a positive trend that bodes well

Among the many critical issues that are chasing each other these days between the costs of energy, fuel and fertilizers, there is also room for some good news.

From 2019 to today, the consumption of olive oil in the world has in fact grown more than production. Even in the current campaign, forecasts indicate that the best before date which will be around 3,2 million tons. To give news of the trend, commenting that "it is the first time this has happened for three consecutive years" occurring "between the two years of the pandemic", is the International Olive Council (IOC).

According to the forecasts of the same Coi, the world production of olive oil for the current campaign it will settle on 3,1 million tons, a slight decrease compared to the previous two campaigns. “The increase in consumption – commented the executive director of the Coi Abdellatif Ghedira (in the picture) – is positive. It shows how consumption reflects changes in consumer lifestyles. Of course, the covid-19 has changed our behavior, but consumers have directed their purchases towards higher quality products, which has also produced an increase in the value of exchanges on a global scale".
