Il Municipality of San Vincenzo La Costa (Cs) in collaboration with the Consortium for the Protection and Enhancement of Calabria PGI Oil andO.P. Cosentina Olive Growing Association announce the national competition for the assignment of the “Nino Luigi Iannotta” award, now in its third edition. The competition aims to enhance Italian extra virgin olive oils, including certified ones (DOP, IGP and organic) coming from different territorial areas, selecting and indicating the best ones obtained from the ongoing olive oil campaign; and consequently of support operators in the sector which tend to improve the quality of the oil, with actions that help them stand out in the global market and market their product.
You can enter the competition with three distinct categories: oils with designation of origin, already recognized within the EU (Dop and Igp); extra virgin olive oils, whose territoriality is attested by the participant with a self-declaration; oils produced exclusively from olive trees falling within the territory of the Municipality of San Vincenzo la Costa.
Le questions they must reach the Municipality of San Vincenzo La Costa within the 25 January and samples in competition within the 31 January 2024. The oils in the competition will be subjected to a selection carried out by tasting committee of Crea-Ofa in Rende based on the organoleptic characteristics. During the evaluation of the organoleptic characteristics of the samples, the tasting commission will assign the oils judged to be "extra virgin" to the respective fruity categories, within which they will compete for the competition prizes, namely: Light fruity, Medium fruity, Intense fruity.
