"Great satisfaction for the first meeting of the olive oil supply chain table and maximum willingness to collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty to address the problems of the sector".
Assitol,Italian Association of the Oil Industry, applauds the initiative of the undersecretary Patrizio La Pietra, which promoted and organized the first meeting between all the players in the olive-oil world, with the aim of building a unified strategy for the relaunch of the sector.
“According to La Pietra – underlines Assitol – all this passes through two lines of intervention. The first includes the defense of the territory and of the social value of olive growing. The second concerns the increase in national production with a view to innovation and openness to new and more efficient olive growing systems, also investing in the research of Italian cultivars adaptable to new agronomic requirements.
“We share the strategic lines proposed by the undersecretary – he comments Anna Cane (in the picture), president of the Assitol Olive Oil Group – and the central role of the supply chain unit in achieving the indicated objectives. For some time we have been invoking the need to team up against the progressive loss of positions of Italy's oil sector with respect to its competitors. From this table we believe that a virtuous path, capable of revitalizing the entire sector, should and can instead be born”.
Lastly, the undersecretary reiterated the urgency of working together also through aUnique interprofessionfor the whole sector. “We are in total agreement on this point too – observes Anna Cane – it is impossible to work towards strengthening our sector if we don't do it all together”.
