Better sports performance with olive waste

The first study that investigated the use of olive vegetation water in physical activity yielded extremely interesting results: in just 16 days there was a positive influence on aerobic exercise, improving performance in exercise. Results that make researchers say that soon thehydroxytyrosol contained at high concentrations in vegetation waters could replace the supplements for those who practice sports.
To give notice, with significant evidence, the Gazzetta dello Sport who in an article signed by Eugenio Spagnuolo gives an account of the study published on Nutrients magazine and conducted by nutrition experts from theAnglia Ruskin University, Cambridgein the United Kingdom.
The study on the potential benefits of hydroxytyrosol in physical activity, the article states, involved 29 participants, who consumed a product containing hydroxytyrosol (OliPhenolia) for 16 consecutive days, finding positive effects on several key markers of race. The intake of hydroxytyrosol has improved respiratory parameters at lower intensity levels (lactate threshold 1). Respiratory parameters at a higher intensity (lactate threshold 2) were largely unaffected, but the effort perceived by the participants was less, just as minors were the recovery times after exercise. Justin Roberts, lecturer in health and exercise nutrition at Anglia Ruskin University and author of the study admits: “We have long been interested in the exercise benefits of polyphenols, such as those found in cherries and beetroot. . To obtain similar ones from olives, however, we would have to consume large quantities of them every day, which is not realistic, so we wanted to test the olive vegetation water".
For now, the study on the use of hydroxytyrosol in aerobic activity is in a preliminary stage, but the researchers are optimistic and would like to find out if olive water can also be useful for those training for the marathon, as well as testing its efficacy against exercise-associated inflammation. Benefits that would be added to those already known of hydroxytyrosol.
