Treatment with football in olive groves it not only improves the response of the plant to water stress, but also optimizes the morphology of the fruit, providing the olive tree with heavier drupes and a higher oil yield. This is the result obtained by ustudy campaign between Spain and Portugal, which lasted three years, conducted by the agronomic department of strategic consultants Juan Vilar, connected to various research centers. I study
In particular, using this treatment, the profitability of a farm can be improved by 19%, through an increase in the caliber of the drupe and in the oil yield, together with a better vegetative and nutritional response of the olive tree, in the face of an expense that can vary between 430 and 1.200 euros per hectare (according to current prices) depending on the cultivation pattern, location, harvest time, variety, etc.
The objective of the study was to focus on the effectiveness of the calcium treatment, with respect to water consumption, adaptability to the environment and improvement of parameters related to productivity and crop quality. In the tests carried out, the use and the effect of the application of calcium (OmyaPro Calcium) in a generalized way were evaluated in different plots of olive groves, leaving a part exempt for the relative comparison.
The treated olive trees showed a lower maturity index than the untreated ones, in response to the better water status of the fruit, and the olive remained in veraison for longer, allowing greater harvesting flexibility. Average weight gain was at least 5%thus ensuring higher productivity per unit area. In the data referring to production, the average harvest of olive trees treated with the product was 54,3 kg/olive tree compared to 49,4 kg/olive tree of untreated olive trees. Regarding fat in dry matter, the treatment improved performance up to 3,04%.
