It is a beautiful story of integration and acceptance that comes from Archaeological Park of the Colosseum where 20 asylum seekers, coming from various African countries, were involved in the pruning of the olive grove in the largest cultural site in Italy.
The initiative stems from the collaboration between the Park, Unaprol and Coldiretti which, for some years now, with the technicians of Op Latium they cure i 200 olive trees kept in the 47 hectares of the Park itself.
It is an original project made by Maadi Solidarity non-profit foundation e “La Sonnina” Farm Social Cooperative, supported by the Region with the aim of promoting the socio-working inclusion of fragile and vulnerable people, starting from the land and agriculture.
"We have embraced the cause with the aim of combining social commitment with the enhancement of those olive trees that represent the history of Rome - he explained the president of Unaprol, David Granieri -. These guys have been given the opportunity to collaborate in an initiative that makes the thousands-year-old Italian olive-growing tradition an important symbol of brotherhood and union between peoples”.
