Having reached the last phase of the transformation process, the residues of water and solids must be well separated from the oil that comes from the decanter. And they need to be eliminated quickly to keep the quality of the product high. We talk about it with Beniamino Tripodi, Pieralisi sales manager (in the picture) that even in the separators, the final link in the chain of an oil mill, has developed interesting technological innovations.
Dr. Tripodi, how important is good separation?
“I would say fundamental, in order not to spoil, but rather to enhance all the good things that the decanter has produced. The main feature must therefore be the high clarification capacity”.
And what does it depend on?
“Certainly from the choice of the best materials and from a correct production process. These are the elements that guarantee not only the best clarification, but also the perfect functioning and long life of the machine”.
Pieralisi offers the Pianeti series in this segment. What can you tell us about it?
“The Pianeti series represents the latest generation of eco-sustainable separators. Compared to equivalent machines, they guarantee 30-40% more clarification and, thanks to their geometry and the composition of the plates, a 25/30% higher flow rate”.
But beyond the best performances, what does eco-sustainable separators mean?
“Which reconcile the needs of millers with those of ecologists. The absence of water in the separation phase eliminates the problem of the production of polluting water and its onerous and demanding disposal in the environment, in compliance with the strict laws in force. These separators also consume less electricity for the same amount of oil treated: a concrete economic saving to which is added the benefit of a better processed product due to the constant and automatic elimination of the acid sediments from the drum thanks to the solenoid valves and the electronic device”.
Speaking of cleanliness, quite a problem in separation, isn't it?
"Surely. A separator should be cleaned at least three or four times a week and it is a complicated process because the pieces are heavy, disassembling and reassembling them, cleaning them, wastes 2 to 3 hours of time. Not to mention that all these actions cause the pieces to wear out over time, causing a lower performance capacity of the machine".
And how did Pieralisi solve this problem?
“The Pieralisi separation systems have been designed to allow excellent cleaning of the machinery thanks to the Mr Cip washing system, which is an exclusive patent. This system allows you to wash the inside of the drum and the relative plates while the machine is in motion, without having to disassemble the drum itself. In short, no more interruptions, no waste of time. Thanks to the easy cleaning of the drum and top performance separation, you get an oil that is always clean and free of lees throughout the campaign. All these advantages translate into greater daily productivity and operating economy which guarantee perfect separation, high efficiency and very long life”.
But are these separators adaptable to each crusher?
“Certainly, the Pianeti series was designed because, based on the capacity requirement, each individual miller can choose between the different models, from the smallest to the largest”.
