Presented for the first time at the event Buffalo Fest of Naples, il Cart of Oils will become the tool with which Italy Olive growing will support the role that extra virgin olive oil deserves in national catering in the various promotional events.
Indeed, the Trolley of Oils is a veritable collection of quality, tracked and certified extra virgin olive oils, coming from all over Italy. “We must open a strong dialogue with the catering system – underlined the president of Italia Olivicola, Gennaro Sicolo (in the picture) – to make people understand the importance of having a list of oils on the table of all restaurants, as is already the case for wines, and even for water. Consumers must have access to a whole series of correct information, they must know how to recognize quality and production efforts, trace the oil back to the production areas and, why not?, pay the right price that a bottle of oil deserves”.
Thanks to Italia Olivicola, olive oil played a role of authentic protagonist at the Neapolitan Bufala Fest. During the conference entitled “Which age? Traceability, sustainability, taste and well-being”, the importance of betting on quality, tracked and sustainable products capable of narrating the biodiversity of our country, the identities of the territories and bringing benefits to the health of the body was shared in front of a large audience.
“There is someone who would like to relegate extra virgin olive oil to the role of commodity. We need to create a system, focus more on organization to move in a unified way, asking politics and institutions to support the sector in large and small battles” Sicolo underlined.
There has been talk of sustainability with the invitation to create a fully environmentally friendly supply chain by reducing the environmental impact and acquiring carbon credits, through the model of Carbon Footprint. Luciano D'Aponte, Head of Agri-food Promotion of the Campania Region and Giampiero Cresti, vice president of the IGP Toscano consortium and Head of Panel they introduced the topic of promotion defining what is the real challenge for the coming years: linking production to the territories and making known and recognizing the diversity of crops in which Italy is rich. Antonio Moschetta and Ettore Varricchio, Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Bari and Professor of Quality and Food Production Techniques at the University of Sannio have offered the academic point of view on benefits of evo oil for the human organism in prevention and treatment.
Luigi Canino, vice president of Italia Olivicola, urged one joint initiative to overcome the crisis in the sector and the negative effects of the conflict on the doorstep of the EU while Raffaele Amore, vice president of Italia Olivicola and Giuliano Martino of the Coordination of Italia Olivicola have brought the consortium's expertise into the programs of traceability and sustainability. Infine, the hon. Pasquale Sweater, member of the Agriculture Commission of the Chamber, introduced the topic of resources of the Pnrr aimed at the modernization of the sector.
