Olive land registry to know the production potential

The officially born national olive register. It will be knowledge tool of the Italian productive potential need production planning, expected from National strategic plan of the CAP. The recent publication in the Official Gazette of the relative decree of the Ministry of Agricultural Policies kicks off this novelty which will allow, through a special file, of having all useful information of each olive grove: properties, dimensions, participation in OP, characteristics of the plant (number of plants, density, layout, distance between plants, type), year of construction, species and variety, participation in PDO and PGI quality systems or voluntary certification systems , presence of irrigation systems and protective structures and all other useful information for traceability. Inserted in the 2019 Budget Law, the olive and fruit land register is supported with 5 million euros to guarantee its implementation.
It was the news the hon. Joseph L'Abbate (in the picture), former Undersecretary of Agriculture, who highlighted how "this tool will allow policies to support the production and marketing of national products to be appropriately addressed".
"Will be Agea to provide for the initial system of the file – added L'Abbate – on the basis of various tools: the Sipa (Identification System of agricultural parcels), the constituent data of the Integrated Management and Control System and content of company files of the paying agencies".
The integration and validation of the contents will be the responsibility of the producer, through specific services made available on the Sian, the National Agricultural Information System, while updating is the responsibility of the paying agencies. The national olive register, as mentioned, goes hand in hand with the fruit register referred to in the same decree.
