"The great commitment of the Ministry and the regional councilors on the operational programs for olive growing producer organizations helps the Italian olive system to grow and not to waste the hard work of aggregating farmers and enhancing Italian productions carried out in the last twenty years ”.
That's what he claims David Granieri, president of Unaprol – Italian Olive Consortium (in the picture) regarding the outcome of the State Regions Conference who decided to adopt the 2022 as the reference year for calculating the Community resources that can be assigned to POs for 2023, parameterised on the basis of their turnover.
"The choice of the reference year 2022, instead of 2021, will make it possible to allocate more Community resources to those regions capable of producing high levels of turnover, such as Puglia (in primis), and will give the possibility to many territories, which in the coming years will inevitably lose the availability of community resources, to gain a year in terms of planning actions, activities and reorganization - explains Granieri -. The decision of the Ministry and the Regions will certainly make it possible to present programs more suited to the real conditions of local business realities and to commit all the resources made available for the sector".
"The timing proposed by the Ministry is perfectly in line with the possibility for POs to plan investments while the administrations will have the actual turnover available supported by official documentation so that the assignment takes place with the maximum possible transparency - continues the president of Unaprol -. The decision to introduce negotiated contracts was also positive, responding to the need to include in the calculation of the resources to be distributed also the production of oil and olives which derives from contracts signed directly by its members”.
